Fall is one of my favorite times of the year –from crisp mornings and colorful leaves falling, to hot apple cider, all things pumpkin, and gathering together with loved ones for Thanksgiving. November also marks National Gratitude Month, a wonderful reminder to slow down and reflect on the people and things that make both our lives and workplace meaningful.

While Thanksgiving is a natural time for gratitude, research (Springer Nature) shows that practicing gratitude year-round can boost both mental and physical well-being. At Big Sky PR, we’re intentional about weaving gratitude into our team culture – not just in November, but all year long. Here’s a few fun ways that we do that:

  1. Thankful Thursday: Each Thursday, we pause for 15 minutes to seek out ways to express our gratitude. It might be a handwritten note to a client or colleague, a thoughtful email, or a meaningful conversation to express appreciation.

  2. Team Shoutouts: During our biweekly team meetings, we dedicate time for teammates to give shoutouts – celebrating one another’s accomplishments or moments of support that make a difference.

  3. Gratitude Journal: At a recent team retreat, each team member was gifted a gratitude journal. A recent UC Berkley study shows that writing in a gratitude journal for just five minutes a day can increase long-term well-being. What a great reminder that a small habit can have a big impact.

When you combine thankfulness and teamwork, the results are exponential. Together, we can:

  1. Uplift those around us

  2. Increase effort & productivity

  3. Boost morale

  4. Reduce stress & burnout

  5. Raise engagement

  6. Strengthen loyalty & reduce turnover

  7. Drive organizational success

  8. Foster creativity & resilience

Knowing that you are appreciated and a part of a supportive team brings a deep sense of satisfaction – one that fuels purpose, connection, and motivation. At Big Sky PR, we’ve seen firsthand how a culture of gratitude strengthens not only our work but the relationships that make it meaningful.

As we move through this season of thanks, we’re reminded that gratitude isn’t just a feeling – it’s an action. And when combined with teamwork, it becomes the foundation of a strong, supportive team.

From all of us at Big Sky PR, a heartfelt thank you – to our partners, clients, and communities – for the trust you place in us every day. We’re grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such inspiring people.
