The Junior Account Executive position is based in our Kalispell, Montana office.
Job Description
The Junior Account Executive (JAE) supports the principal, assisting with multiple clients and events and performing administrative office functions as needed. The JAE reports directly to the Principal. The JAE attends events and assists in leading client service, research, media relations, media buying, basic design, and social media strategy in order to deliver integrated communications campaigns.
The JAE has superior organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks on an ongoing basis. They have a superior work ethic, excellent communications skills and a demonstrated ability to lead with grace under pressure. The JAE is practical and creative, a self-starter who learns quickly, thrives in a fast-paced environment, breathes the daily news and loves people.

Equally important, the new addition to Big Sky Public Relations will have strong writing, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. Big Sky Public Relations’ new JAE will enjoy the exceptional opportunity of participating in all levels of the public relations process. Unlike entry-level positions at a large agency, our JAE will not be buried in copious amounts of filing or endless coffee runs. Instead, the JAE will be pitching and landing media coverage, planning and running events, attending client meetings, and more. Responsibilities

Responsible for managing daily client coverage monitoring, clipping, and media placement reports

Develop and maintain successful relationships with key media members

Develop and manage media contact databases

Attend in-person meetings and events with client, when appropriate

Write press kit documents as well as news releases, pitch letters, bylines, opinion editorials and website content

Assist with press tour and trade show schedules and appointments

Provide client service and communications as directed by the principal

Serve as a production assistant during video shoots

Schedules and coordinates public meetings and events

Conducts community outreach efforts such as canvassing and representation at public events

Develop weekly, monthly and quarterly PR reports

Keep abreast of each client’s industry, competition and coverage

Assist in managing interns as assigned

Manage social media team platforms

Manage office administrative duties as requested by the principal
Job Specifications/Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree required - Major in public relations, journalism, English, communications, or related field required

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook

Superior writing skills and the talent to weave a compelling narrative

Demonstrated client management and/or professional customer service experience

Ability to manage multiple accounts and balance priorities

Expertise in planning and coordination; capacity to direct special events

Proven ability to lead teams and work successfully with creative vendors to meet deadlines

Understanding of media relations and media research; interest in building relationships with the media

Graphic design and/or web administration skills preferred
Interpersonal Skills:

Develop and maintain productive, trusting relationships with clients, stakeholders, elected officials, members of the media, and other influencers with whom he/she may sometimes interact. Work cooperatively and positively with other members of the Big Sky Public Relations team on a daily basis. Possess a commitment to giving and receiving feedback honestly and graciously.
Job Schedule
The Junior Account Executive’s standard schedule is Monday through Friday, with hours dependent upon Big Sky Public Relations’ current staffing needs. We celebrate work/life balance and are committed to protecting our team’s family and recreation time. If necessary, weekend and evening work with be scheduled in advance with the Account Coordinator Big Sky Public Relations. All days will be worked in office, with the exception of Work from Home Mondays (a privilege enjoyed by employees in good standing who are billing their allocated hours on a weekly basis).
