Job Location

This work-from-home position based in Western Montana, Northern Idaho, or Eastern Washington will also include regular facetime with the public, public events, and on-site meetings at client offices. Although location is flexible, preferred cities include Missoula, Helena, Kalispell, Bozeman, Spokane, or communities within a 30-minute drive of these cities. Big Sky Public Relations will provide all necessary work equipment; the JAE is responsible for providing a professional workspace in their home and an internet connection capable of supporting video conferencing. Work-from-home affords our team incredible flexibility, a relaxed working environment, and less drive time. It also requires an excellent, consistent team and client communication.

 

Job Description

The Junior Account Executive (JAE) supports Big Sky Public Relations’ account managers, assisting with multiple clients and performing administrative office functions as needed. The JAE attends events and helps lead client service, research, media relations, event planning, content creation and social media strategy to deliver integrated communications campaigns. The JAE reports directly to the Account Manager.

 

The JAE has superior organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks continuously. They have an exemplary work ethic, excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to lead with grace under pressure. The JAE also has a proven ability to be self-starting and can take the initiative even when tasks are unfamiliar.

 

Effective and successful JAEs can demonstrate a strong desire to learn, ambition to progress and rise to challenges, and above all, show reliability, efficiency, and dependability on a daily basis. The right candidate can easily captain their proverbial ship, work magic within teams, and considers feedback an opportunity to grow. Equally important, the new Big Sky Public Relations addition will have strong writing, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.

 

Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day account support, ensuring working closely with colleagues to deliver excellent client work.

  • Attending client and internal meetings or when delegated to handle such a task, taking detailed notes and action lists for team members.

  • Proactively supporting more senior team members with administrative tasks, e.g., updating media lists, coordinating team meetings, desk research, and day-to-day administration.

  • Working on various reports – weekly client reports, internal team action lists, coverage reports, etc.

  • Develop and maintain successful relationships with key media members.

  • Develop and manage media contact databases.

  • Attend in-person meetings and events with clients when appropriate.

  • Write press kit documents, news releases, pitch letters, bylines, opinion editorials and website content.

  • Develop weekly, monthly and quarterly PR reports as needed.

  • Keep abreast of each client’s industry, competition and coverage.

  • When appropriate, work with the social media team to help research influencers for potential campaign collaborations.

  • Brainstorm fresh ideas for PR campaigns.

  • Draft deliverable or webpage content for clients or team members,

  • Manage office administrative duties as requested by the CXO and/or CEO.

 

Job Specifications/Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required - major in public relations, journalism, English, communications, or related field preferred.

  • 1-2 years related experience in public relations, journalism, event planning, or another related field.

  • Ability to successfully produce content on tight media deadlines and meet the demands and pressures of your team and clients by working quickly and efficiently without compromising on quality.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

  • Superior writing skills and the talent to weave a compelling narrative.

  • Demonstrated client management and/or professional customer service experience.

  • Ability to manage multiple accounts and balance priorities.

  • Expertise in planning and coordination; capacity to direct or facilitate special events.

  • Understanding of media relations and media research; interest in building relationships with the media.

  • Capabilities with photography and social media are beneficial but not crucial.


Pay

The JAE position will be an hourly position. Hourly pay will range from $22.59 - $26.44 per hour, depending on experience. The JAE will receive between 35 to 40 hours weekly.

Job Classification: Full-Time, Hourly

 

Work Schedule: The JAE typically works 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Work on weekends and evenings may be required. Additional hours may be required during public meetings, special events or high-volume seasons with project rollouts.

 

Travel: Yes, 10-20%
