Job Description

The Graphic Designer position is a dynamic role for an experienced designer passionate about creating design solutions that are consistently and strategically aligned with Big Sky Public Relations’ brand, and consistent for client projects across different mediums.

 

In this role, there’s never a dull moment! The Graphic Designer will work on numerous projects and provide support to the entire agency team, while assisting with multiple clients, events, and performing support functions such as material distribution or community outreach as needed. In addition to general graphic design, the Graphic Designer may attend events and participate in client service, research, professional writing, proposal layout, and social media content creation in order to deliver integrated communications campaigns.
 

The Graphic Designer has an excellent creative mind, organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and successfully work on multiple tasks on an ongoing basis. They have a superior work ethic and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. The Graphic Designer is a coachable self-starter who learns quickly and thrives in a fast-paced environment. The Graphic Designer reports directly to the CXO.

 

Essential Responsibilities/Duties

  • Lead and maintain design consistency and integrity of Big Sky Public Relations’ brand, as well as client brands.

  • Design from vision to fruition while creating and/or adhering to branding guidelines for both internal and client projects.

  • Create materials from the ground up with minimal supervision.

  • Take initiative to offer creative insight, feedback, and suggestions.

  • Utilize a diverse toolkit to create and modify both design

  • Knowledge of design trends and creative insight into how best to utilize graphic design in accomplishing goals for diverse clients across different mediums (print, digital, social media, etc.).

  • Manage daily client coverage on several diverse projects.

  • Prioritize simultaneously ongoing projects with a flexible, optimistic attitude.

  • Support team and clients with professional and clear communication.

  • Take responsibility to meet expected project deadlines.

  • Maintain cohesive brand design and messaging across all mediums.

  • Represent client values, message, and goals through visual storytelling.

  • Some work outside of design avenue to support and assist agency in client satisfaction.

Interpersonal Skills

Develop and maintain productive, trusting relationships with clients, stakeholders, elected officials, members of the media, and other influencers with whom he/she may sometimes interact. Work cooperatively and positively with other members of the Big Sky Public Relations team on a daily basis. Possess a commitment to honestly and graciously giving and receiving feedback.

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or related field required. Equivalent equal experience will also be considered with a strong support portfolio and excellent work references.

  • Three years design experience is required. At least a year working for a design firm, ad agency, or retail in-house agency is strongly preferred.

  • Portfolio required. Work should demonstrate ability to represent complex client message or concept accurately and insightfully through well-crafted print and/or digital mediums.

  • Experience in graphic design, original creation of branding, photo composition, retouching, layout best practices, and style guides.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of print design, digital design and production processes.

  • Intermediate proficiency and experience with the full Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc).

  • Strong advocate of brand discipline and brand consistency.

  • Proficiency with Apple Macintosh computers and Microsoft Office, as well as familiarity with or the capability to quickly learn internet tools and technologies such as Gmail, Dropbox, digital task management software, and file-sharing platforms.

  • Internet research and PowerPoint skills are a must.

  • Able to set up for and staff events, which requires lifting 30 pounds and standing for several hours; able to comfortably walk several miles in a day in order to complete canvassing or other material distribution duties.

  • Able to effectively establish priorities and meet deadlines in order to complete projects on-time and on-budget.

  • Able to establish and maintain effective internal and external working relationships.

  • Proven ability to successfully work within a team and independently with limited supervision.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Capacity to identify and solve problems; willingness to be flexible.

  • Attention to detail and follow-up skills.

  • Strong initiative, highly self-motivated, and willingness to approach work with a sense of urgency.

  • Alignment with organizational vision, mission, and values.

Job Classification: Full-Time

 

Work Schedule: The full-time Graphic Designer typically works 35 to 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Work on weekends and evenings may be required on a limited basis. Additional hours may be required during special events or high-volume seasons with project rollouts. Advance notice will be provided for activities scheduled outside of standard work hours.

 

Travel: Yes, 10-20% 

Location: Work from Home (not fully remote – some on-sight work will be required at agency or client locations or regions)

Hourly Range: $19/hour - $24/hour DOE
