Who We Are

Big Sky Public Relations is a boutique public involvement firm supporting infrastructure and construction projects across the region. We serve public and private clients in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) sectors, providing thoughtful, community-focused engagement strategies.

Headquartered in Montana with team members across Montana and the Inland Northwest, our firm is

rooted in the values of Heart, Grit, and Fun. Whether hosting a town hall, crafting a public notice, or helping

a community navigate change, we show up with professionalism, optimism, and purpose.

We’re growing—and we’re looking for people who want to grow with us.

Who You Are

You’re a natural communicator and relationship builder with experience in community outreach, public

relations, or stakeholder engagement. You’re ready to take on a leadership role while still getting into the

work: planning meetings, drafting communications, and engaging face-to-face with the public.

You lead with integrity, work independently, and excel in fast-paced, people-centered environments. You

take ownership of your work and collaborate well with others to bring clarity and progress to complex

public projects.

What You'll Do

● Represent Big Sky Public Relations in the Boise region and surrounding markets.

● Proactively identify, pursue, and secure new business prospects within the region, maintaining a steady pipeline of opportunities that support the company’s long-term growth.

● Lead and implement public involvement plans for infrastructure and construction projects.

● Build and maintain relationships with public agencies, elected officials, and community stakeholders.

● Organize and facilitate community meetings, open houses, stakeholder briefings, and public outreach events.

● Spearhead proposal writing, marketing efforts, and business development opportunities in Idaho.

● Prepare reports, public notices, meeting summaries, and other communications materials.

● Oversee and ensure accountability of new project managers and junior staff, providing clear directives and setting high standards for performance; help ensure that project deliverables are timely and of high quality.

● Lead media relations, crisis communication, or event logistics.

● Travel within the region to attend meetings and project-related activities (20–30%).

What You Bring

● 5 - 7+ years of experience in public involvement, communications, or a related field. Minimum of two years in the AEC industry.

● Strong interpersonal and writing skills; able to communicate with clarity and empathy.

● Experience with public sector or infrastructure-related work preferred.

● Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, planning, or related field.

● Familiarity with digital communication tools and platforms.

● Comfort working independently and in a hybrid environment.

● Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus but not required.

● Demonstrated record of success winning business through the formal RFP/RFQ process with both government and non-governmental entities.

● Ability to serve as a senior project manager for public involvement for projects in emerging markets.

● Highly proficient with Microsoft software, Google Suite, time tracking, and other technology and online-based software systems.

● Ability to work on and prioritize multiple projects while meeting required goals and deadlines.

● Excellent organization skills, strong analytical, oral and written communication skills.

● Ability to communicate well with individuals at multiple levels within an organization.

What We Offer

● Competitive medical, vision, and dental benefits.

● Matching Simple IRA retirement contribution.

● Wellness incentives (e.g., gym memberships, massage reimbursement).

● Flexible schedule and hours; opportunities for remote work out of home base as schedule and projects allow.

● Paid team retreats.

● Paid holidays (including your birthday!) and PTO.

● Generous maternity leave plan.

● Annual professional development opportunities tailored to your goals.

● Supportive team culture grounded in our values of Heart, Grit, and Fun.
